FAUC PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT 2025 - A THREEFOLD STRATEGY FOR DELIVERY
At Fulton Adventist University College, we embarked on an enriching journey of professional development at the outset of February 2025. The faculty and staff actively engaged in a dynamic and insightful learning experience. This year’s theme underscored the significance of a structured approach in effectively delivering content, services, and initiatives.
Rooted in the profound wisdom of Psalms 32:8, the theme reflects God’s promise to guide and instruct those who earnestly seek His counsel. It highlights the vital personal relationship between the individual and God, emphasizing His role as the ultimate teacher and guide. When God assures, "I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go," it conveys His unwavering commitment to providing wisdom and direction throughout life’s journey. This divine assurance is especially comforting for those navigating decisions or uncertainties, reminding us that we are never alone in our quest for clarity and purpose.
As we engage in this professional development, we are encouraged to embrace this threefold strategy, fostering an environment of collaborative learning and spiritual growth. Together, we strive to enhance our skills and deepen our understanding, ensuring that our service delivery is not only effective but also reflective of our commitment to excellence and faith.
Dr. Ronald Stone, the Principal of Fulton Adventist University College, shared the strategic plans for the university. He also provided updates on major developments across various aspects of the institution, including spiritual, academic, and physical growth, as well as Fulton’s overall university status. These developments highlight the institution’s commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in Adventist education.
Key Themes of Professional Development 2025
Strategic Planning: Understanding how to create a comprehensive and organized plan that ensures the efficient delivery of programs, services, or projects.
Implementation Techniques: Learning methods and best practices for executing strategies effectively, with a focus on optimizing resources, timing, and overall execution.
Evaluation and Feedback: Developing skills to assess outcomes and impact, emphasizing continuous improvement through feedback and data analysis.
The workshops were conducted by two distinguished facilitators, Dr. Amelia Siga and Mr. Talonga Pita, both of whom shared invaluable insights and engaged staff in meaningful discussions. Faculty members also had the opportunity to contribute ideas, further enriching the learning experience.
Dr. Amelia Siga shared her research on Mathematics Education in Fiji, presenting fascinating findings gathered from Fulton. Her research highlighted the alignment between teachers’ work and curriculum outcomes, providing valuable insights into effective teaching practices. Staff members actively participated in mathematics exercises focusing on open-ended questions, which were both engaging and enlightening.
Mr. Talonga Pita presented on strategic educational developments from the General Conference, the South Pacific Division (SPD), and the Trans Pacific Union Mission (TPUM) for the next five years. He shared the latest educational statistics at global, divisional, and union levels, emphasizing the Seventh-day Adventist Education system’s status as the largest Protestant education network worldwide. His presentation also covered the Quality Adventist Schools Pacific Framework (QASP) Version 1, a critical document for school accreditation processes within TPUM. This framework aims to drive school improvements and ensure high standards in Adventist education.
A Shared Mission in Adventist Education
As educators, it is vital to recognize our role in this vast education system. Each teacher plays a crucial part in fulfilling the vision, mission, and commission that God has given. Teaching is not merely a profession—it is a ministry, a calling to make disciples.
The TPUM’s theme for 2025, “I Will Go to the Ends of the World,” serves as a reminder of our mission to extend the message of hope and salvation beyond our immediate communities, reaching those who have yet to hear about Jesus.
