Fiji Baptisms Reach 800 Mark
The Fiji Mission has so far seen an addition of 804 souls to the church through baptisms between January and the last week of July, which includes 37 Fijians of Indian descent.
This year's theme, "I Will Go To My Neighbours", has seen every church and its members embark on a mission, focusing on reaching out with the gospel to the Indian communities.
According to Personal Ministry Director, Uraia Seru, 145 souls were baptized in the first quarter of this year, 179 in the second, and 480 by the end of July.
"Evangelism is still being carried out in parts of Fiji and we are expecting these numbers to rise," said Uraia.
"Everyone is involved, even officers at the mission and TPUM are preaching at selected centres in both rural and urban areas," added Uraia.
Mission President, Nasoni Lutunaliwa, stated that the evangelisms were carried forward with unwavering dedication, fuelled by the spiritual energy radiating from the transformed hearts of those already touched.
"Within the Indian communities, we are making breakthroughs and stirring hearts, souls are awakening as they find solace in the arms of Jesus and the gospel," said Nasoni.
"Their decisions to follow Christ were not mere words but profound commitments to become disciples and follow biblical truths as Jesus did," he added.
Nasoni also noted that the interest and passion for mission work among our Indian populace has grown and iTaukei churches are now heavily involved, conducting visitations, health programmes, and evangelisms for Indians throughout Fiji. He commented that the Fiji Mission is setting the stage this year and will have to ensure this trend continues in the coming years.
More baptisms are anticipated in the weeks and months ahead as evangelisms are planned across Fiji.
