Fulton University College Graduation 2024: Enlightened to Serve
Yesterday, November 24, 2024, marked a day of celebration, inspiration, and hope as Fulton University held its graduation ceremony under the theme “Enlightened to Serve.”
The highlight of the event was the heartfelt address by our guest speaker, the Honorable Kinoka Hotune Feo, Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science, Technology, Sports, and Recreation of Papua New Guinea. His speech, titled “Looking Out the Window,” captivated the hearts of everyone present as he shared his journey of resilience, faith, and divine intervention.
Minister Feo recounted his struggles in 2003 when he didn’t perform well at the University of Papua New Guinea. Feeling ashamed to return home, he found himself living on the streets of Port Moresby. But God had a plan for him. With the support of a Filipino couple, Levi and Neva Jimenez, he gained the opportunity to stay at the Pacific Adventist University (PAU) campus.
At PAU, his life changed forever. During a pivotal meeting with the late Dr. Nemani Tausere, he heard these prophetic words:
"One day you will become very important." Dr. Tausere bent the rules to give him the chance to work and study—a chance that shaped the leader he is today.
Minister Feo reminded the 164 graduates of 2024 of their mission to let their light shine, quoting the powerful words of Matthew 5:16:
"Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
He emphasized that the world doesn’t only want to hear the gospel but longs to see it in action. His story of perseverance and faith was a living testimony to that truth.
Adding to the significance of the event, the Trans Pacific Union Mission (TPUM) President, Officers, and Administrative Staff, along with Mission Presidents from across the TPUM region, were present to celebrate this milestone. Their presence underscored the importance of this moment and the collective effort to nurture future leaders who will serve with excellence and faith.
As a gesture of gratitude for the opportunities he received and his deep appreciation for Fulton University, Minister Feo made a generous donation of 1 Million Kina toward the construction of a new church building on campus—a place that will serve as a spiritual home for future leaders.
Minister Feo closing message to the graduands were: You are now enlightened to serve. Go forth and shine your light, bringing hope, faith, and love to the world. Let your actions speak louder than words and glorify God in all you do.
