Niue High School Staff and Prefects Attend Worship Service at Niue Seventh-day Adventist Church

On the Sabbath of 17th June 2023, Niue Seventh-day Adventist Church warmly opened its doors to a unique congregation of staff, prefects, and guests from the Niue High School.

The Principal of Niue High School, Mr Charles Ioane, made a request to the SDA church for his staff to be part join their worship program during that particular meeting. In a letter to the School Staff, he expressed the need for the gathering. "As we navigate through these challenging times, it is crucial that we come together as a staff to support one another and uplift each other in prayer," he wrote. "By cultivating a culture of spiritual togetherness, we are better equipped to connect with our students on a deeper level, and provide them with the guidance and support they need to grow in faith."

The congregation, 22 in all, were blessed by the words of Pastor Akuila Salabogi, who emphasized the essential need for the Holy Spirit in their roles as teachers, leaders, and role models. Quoting Acts 1:8 and Zechariah 4:6, Pastor Salabogi reminded attendees of the immense power and guidance they can receive from the Holy Spirit.

The pastor further advocated for making time for the Kingdom of God daily, asserting that spiritual togetherness within the school and staff community will naturally follow when spiritual life is given priority. He pointed towards Matthew 6:33 as the scripture for this, “Seeking God first and foremost, and making Him priority in life”.

Following the service, attendees were treated to a special musical performance by the staff and prefects, who together sang, “This is the day that the Lord has made.” The message in the song echoed the sentiments of the day and resonated with the community members present.

Later, attendees also enjoyed a combined lunch, lovingly prepared by the church family, allowing time for fellowship and continued conversation around the powerful themes discussed during the service.

The event left a mark on the participants. Mr. Charles Ioane, the Niue High School Principal, expressed his appreciation in a message to his staff: “Thank you for the church service today staff!! Staff well-being is important! It is not about attending church, but all about your relationship with the Lord Jesus. Thank you Pastor Peni, Pulini, and Peni and the SDA congregation for hosting us.”

Indeed, the service served as a reminder of the essential role that spiritual togetherness and wellness play in shaping a vibrant, loving, and supportive community. It is hoped that the effects of this day continue to ripple out into the broader school and church communities, fostering deeper relationships with each other and their shared faith.
