Samoan Cookbook Wins Major International Award
We are proud to announce that HEAL: The Samoan Way has won Best Oceania Fundraising Book in the World at the 2025 Gourmand World Cookbook Awards.
The award was announced in December 2025 during the Saudi Feast Food Festival in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, marking the 31st International Gourmand Awards. The event brought together chefs, authors, publishers, diplomats, and food leaders from 96 countries, celebrating 30 years of the Gourmand Awards.
This recognition is a significant achievement for Samoa and the wider South Pacific. HEAL: The Samoan Way was nominated alongside three Australian cookbooks, including The Best of Maggie Beer by The Australian Women’s Weekly. Maggie Beer is one of Australia’s most respected culinary figures, making this win especially meaningful.
We congratulate our eight Samoan recipe contributors, who generously shared their knowledge, culture, and passion through these recipes. This award is a proud moment for Pacific food, traditional knowledge, and community-led health initiatives.
The international recognition has also brought global attention to The 10,000 Toes Campaign, highlighting our work in diabetes prevention and health promotion across the South Pacific.
This award affirms the power of Samoan knowledge, healthy food, and strong communities, showing that even small island nations can make a global impact.
