Kiribati Mission Welcomes TPUM Ministerial Secretary during their Ministerial Retreat
From November 4th to 11th, 2024, a group of 19 dedicated spiritual leaders in Kiribati gathered for a powerful retreat and training at the peaceful Midland Resort, located on an island outside of Tarawa. The group included five recently ordained ministers, pastors, and volunteer workers, all united in a common purpose to deepen their ministry skills and refresh their mission. The week included impactful ministerial training sessions at the TPUM head office, which focused on equipping both ministers and volunteers with essential skills, as well as inspiring an even greater commitment to their roles within the Kiribati mission field. These sessions covered a variety of topics, from pastoral care to community engagement, empowering each attendee to better serve and guide their local communities with stronger, faith-driven leadership.
A major highlight of the retreat was the basic internship training, designed specifically for new interns who will begin their ministerial journey next year. This training provided foundational knowledge and practical experience for the incoming ministers, allowing them to learn about the responsibilities and challenges of ministry while preparing them to serve alongside experienced ministers in the year ahead. Another significant focus of the retreat was the ongoing development of the Walk4Life Kiribati program, a health-centered initiative that promotes both spiritual and physical wellness through community involvement. Attendees engaged in sessions dedicated to expanding Walk4Life’s impact, discussing new ideas and strategies to engage more participants and strengthen the reach of this vital program in their communities.
One of the most memorable parts of the retreat was the combined Divine Service held on Sabbath, bringing together all 19 participants in a powerful time of worship and reflection. This shared moment of unity and purpose reminded everyone of the importance of their calling and renewed their commitment to bringing hope and health to the people of Kiribati through their spiritual work. This retreat has fostered stronger connections among Kiribati’s ministry leaders and volunteers, establishing a shared vision and renewed energy. As these leaders return to their respective communities, they are better equipped to guide, uplift, and support others in both faith and health.
