Vanuatu Mission Celebrates First Graduates of FAUC Theology Program

Port Vila, Vanuatu - July 15, 2024 - The Vanuatu Mission marked a historic milestone in human resource professional development as it witnessed the first cohort of students graduate with a Certificate IV in Theology from Fulton Adventist University College (FAUC). The graduation ceremony at the Epauto Centre in Port Vila symbolised a significant breakthrough in Adventist Christian education within Vanuatu and the Pacific region.

The event saw the presence of key FAUC officials, including the Deputy Principal, Dr Tuima Tabua, Head of the Theology Department, Dr. Limoni Manu and Registrar, Ms Nellie Manuca, who traveled from Fiji to Port Vila to present to the Vanuatu Mission leaders and officiate the graduation of 29 theology students. Among these graduates was Mrs. Friete Jane Bong from Ambrym, the sole female in the group, whose journey into theology began years ago when she helped her husband recommit his life to God. Her passion for theological studies stemmed from her desire to continue assisting people in their spiritual journeys.

In his remarks, Pastor Charley Jimmy, President of Vanuatu Mission, expressed his joy at this achievement, highlighting the breakthrough of bringing FAUC's programs from Fiji to Vanuatu. This accomplishment aligns with the Vanuatu Mission's quinquennial goals, underscoring its commitment to enhancing theological education and training within the region.

Dr. Limoni Manu, Head of the Theology Department at FAUC, presented the 29 graduates, emphasizing the importance of this program in fostering spiritual growth and leadership in Vanuatu. The successful completion of this Certificate IV in Theology program paves the way for these graduates to pursue further studies, with the opportunity to enroll in the Diploma in Theology program starting January 2025, also to be offered in Port Vila.

The event was not just a celebration of academic achievement but also a testament to the dedication and hard work of the students and the collaborative efforts of FAUC and the Vanuatu Mission. It signifies a new era of accessible and high-quality Adventist Christian education in the region, aimed at empowering individuals to serve and lead in their communities with a strong theological foundation.

As the Vanuatu Mission continues to build on this success, it remains committed to supporting and expanding educational opportunities that inspire and equip future leaders in the church and community.
