Atoifi Adventist Hospital achieves highest ever intake of nursing students
Pr Maveni Kaufononga and Mr Fraser Alekevu recently visited Atoifi Adventist Hospital on the island of Malaita in the Solomon Islands for the Atoifi board meeting from February 13th to 15th. During their visit, they met with staff and students and collected some exciting news and highlights from the institution.
Atoifi Adventist Hospital is a Trans Pacific Union medical institution also renowned for its Nursing school, which has been thriving, as seen by the recent successes celebrated during the board meeting. One of the most significant highlights of the visit was the completion of studies for 24 nursing students who are set to graduate next week.
The principal’s report indicated that this year, the institution has achieved its highest intake of students ever, with 127 enrolled in the nursing program. Pr Maveni mentioned that this positive growth and development at Atoifi is a testament to the exceptional leadership, passion, and dedication of the staff and administration.
The Vanuatu government is sponsoring seven students at Atoifi Adventist Hospital to study nursing, and they are interested in sending more students in the future.
Dr Humpress Harrington, returning from completing his Doctorate program will soon take over as the new Principal from Lester Asugeni. Another significant accomplishment highlighted by Pr Maveni is that “all its key leaders are from Malaita, which is very encouraging for the local people who have taken over the leadership roles.” Pr Maveni went on to say, “As the institution continues to go from strength to strength, it is a true testament to the commitment of the staff and students, who are working tirelessly to deliver exceptional healthcare services to their community.”
