Free Health Mission Paves Way for New Clinic in Fiji

From October 30th to November 3rd, the Deuba SDA Campsite was transformed into a hive of medical activity as hundreds of Fijians lined up to receive free healthcare services. The Granite Hilltop Adventist Church from Sacramento, California, sent a team of medical professionals to carry out this mission. The first day saw an overwhelming turnout from locals who benefited from dental, eye checks, minor surgeries, and free consultations.

Dr. Akuila Tabuavou, the director of Hope Clinic, outlined the week's plan, dedicating each day to different communities, with residents of Serua receiving attention on November 1st, followed by pre-registered individuals through the Hope Clinic portal on November 2nd and 3rd. The mission week concluded on a high note with a Celebration Sabbath at the campsite, acknowledging the end of the medical missionary effort by Shepherd’s Call Ministry.

Communities from Namosi, Serua, Navua, Suva, and the western division expressed their profound gratitude towards the visiting team for the medical services that spared them significant expenses. Pr Christian Berdhal confirmed the ministry's intent to continue such missions in Fiji, signalling a long-term commitment to the region's health.

A significant announcement was made during the mission week; the Fiji Mission of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, represented by Pastor Nasoni Lutunaliwa and Dr. Tabuavou, revealed plans for a new clinic in Nakavika, Namosi. The proposed clinic, funded by the U.S. church, will include four consultation rooms, a delivery room for surgeries, and three beds for patients needing overnight stays.

The people of Namosi received the news with open arms, eagerly meeting the U.S. team to thank them for the previous week's medical services. Pastor Berdhal assured the community that the team would return not only to break ground on the new clinic but also to see the project through to completion, promising a future of enhanced healthcare accessibility for the people of Namosi.
