Hog Harbour Gains Accessible Sanitation Facilities through ADRA New Zealand Initiative

On September 14, the community of Hog Harbour in East Santo, Vanuatu, welcomed the first #adraconnections team from New Zealand after a four-year interval. The team arrived to begin a two-week project, collaborating with the SHAPE project team to build latrines and handwashing stations for individuals with disabilities.

The #adraconnections team, comprised of young New Zealanders, received a warm reception upon their arrival. During their stay, they successfully constructed 19 latrines, reflecting the program's focus on practical support and inclusivity.

This initiative was made possible through the support of ADRA New Zealand and funded by the New Zealand Government via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, with additional funding from Latter-day Saint Charities. The local community's support and the team's efforts underscored the significance of the SHAPE project in promoting better hygiene and sanitation for those with disabilities.
