Fulton Accounting Program Earns Accreditation from FICA
Fulton Adventist University College (FAUC) is celebrating a significant milestone with its accreditation by the Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants (FICA), a regulatory body of chartered accountants in Fiji. The accreditation award was presented on the 14th of March, by Mr Tarlochan Singh, President of FICA, Executive Director Mr Daljeet, Deepti Singh (Chartered Accountant of Jay Lal & Company), and Rosean Chand, Human Resource Manager of Air Terminal Fiji Ltd.
To receive accreditation, institutions like FAUC must meet a set of criteria and standards established by FICA. FAUC's accounting program now meets regional standards, enabling its graduates to automatically become FICA members and receive certification.
Mr Anil Singh, the Head of the Business Department at Fulton said “This milestone achievement is not only significant for FAUC in Fiji but also in the region.” He added that “Accreditation from FICA adds value to FAUC's accounting program and will improve its quality, which, in turn, will attract more students.” According to Mr Singh, the Department of Business saw a 26% increase in enrollment this year compared to last year.
FAUC's Business department is also currently working to get its Bachelor of Business - Accounting and Management program accredited by CPA Australia, with further applications to be made later this month. Additionally, the department aims to get professional accreditation for its Bachelor of Information Systems program from Australia, with a meeting scheduled for the second week of July 2023 in Melbourne.
Currently, FAUC is waiting for its programs to be accredited by the Fiji Higher Education Commission, with the timeframe for accreditation set for May 2023. Furthermore, the Department of Business will start offering a Postgraduate Diploma - Accounting and Management program from 2024.
