Disciple Ministry Team leaders get Innovative
The Trans Pacific Union recently hosted a two-day training event aimed at equipping its Disciple ministry team (DMT) leaders with innovative thinking skills. The training, which was held on the 13th and 14th of March, featured guest facilitators Dr. Sven Östring, the SPD Director of Ministry and Strategy, and Maddy Voinea, who oversees Ministry Innovations and Marketing at the South Pacific Division (SPD).
Founded on the Bible verse, "Behold, I am doing a new thing;.... I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." (Isaiah 43:19), and focused on teaching participants the process of innovative thinking and how to apply it to their various ministries at the TPU office.
In attendance on the first day were the Discipleship Ministry Team from the Fiji Mission. Ms Sera Dimainacava, Fiji Mission DMT Secretary, described the workshop as "so inspiring" and said that it will be of great help in planning future projects and events for the Fiji Mission. She explained, "When faced with challenges I cannot solve, I can start with God before setting out to list all the worst possible solutions before getting to any good ones. This is a method I learned during the training and I find it effective in stimulating critical thinking when it comes to problem-solving."
Maddy Voinea explained that the purpose of the SPD Innovation Program is to encourage and support new approaches to ministry. "We aim to provide the scaffolding you need to unlock the creativity within your team and inspire an appetite to minister in new ways," she said.
