Hingal Seventh-day Adventist Church Celebrates New Beginning on 65th Anniversary

The Hingal Seventh-day Adventist Church on Paama Island has reached a significant dual milestone in its storied 65-year history. Founded in 1958 by Michel Varu, the church community came together in joyous celebration on October 16th, 2023, to both inaugurate their new church building and to mark the official organization of their church.

The day was filled with festivity and reflection as 52 members of the church, alongside government officials, village elders, and church leaders, witnessed the historic event. It was a momentous occasion that not only celebrated the physical structure of the new building but also the church's growth and its formal recognition as an organized body within the Seventh-day Adventist community.

The ceremony was presided over by Pastor Charley Jimmy, President of the Vanuatu Mission, who declared the Hingal church as organized, urging the congregation to embrace the Gospel Commission. Pastor Jimmy's message emphasized the church's role in spreading faith and serving not just the local members but also the neighboring communities.

This establishment as an organized church signifies a new chapter for the Hingal congregation, promising a future of enhanced ministry and community service. The new church building stands as a testament to the dedication and faith of its members, who have worked tirelessly to see this day come to fruition.

The Hingal Seventh-day Adventist Church's commitment to the spiritual well-being of its community has been reinforced on this anniversary. With the new church building and organizational status, the members of Hingal are poised to extend their outreach and fulfill their mission with renewed vigour and purpose.

There are currently 93 Organized Seventh-day Adventist churches to serve the people of Vanuatu and 202 Companies and Branch Churches.
