Pastor Charlie Jimmy Appointed as New TPUM President
The Trans-Pacific Union Mission (TPUM) family joyfully welcomes Pastor Charlie Jimmy as its newly appointed president. His appointment was officially voted on Tuesday, August 20, during the South Pacific Division (SPD) Executive Committee meetings held at the Division headquarters in Wahroonga, Sydney.
Pastor Jimmy, who has faithfully served as president of the Vanuatu Mission since 2021, now steps into this wider leadership role, following Pastor Maveni Kaufononga’s election as SPD Vice President during the recent General Conference Session in St. Louis, USA.
In passing on the baton, Pastor Kaufononga expressed deep confidence in his successor, describing Pastor Jimmy as “a humble and God-fearing leader” who will guide the Union with faith and dedication.
Reflecting on this new call, Pastor Jimmy shared his trust in God’s leading:
“It is not easy to step into such a role. But I believe that when God calls, He equips you. I accept this call with faith, knowing that the mission belongs to Him.”
With his heart firmly set on mission, Pastor Jimmy has already outlined key priorities, including preparations for TPUM for Christ 2026—a major evangelistic initiative uniting the entire Union—as well as upcoming union and mission sessions. His focus remains clear: to strengthen discipleship, encourage total member involvement, and keep the mission of Christ at the center of all work across the Pacific.
Born and raised in Vanuatu, Pastor Jimmy has dedicated his ministry to serving God’s people since 2005. His pastoral journey has included shepherding congregations in Port Vila and at the University of the South Pacific (Emalus Campus), and holding mission leadership roles in Youth, Volunteer Services, Sabbath School, and as General Secretary. He also served at the TPUM office from 2019 to 2020 as Youth Ministries Director before returning home to Vanuatu to serve as Mission President.
He is married to Jeanie, and together they are blessed with four children.
As Pastor Jimmy takes up this new responsibility, we invite all our members across the Union to lift him and his family in prayer. May God grant him wisdom, strength, and vision as he leads TPUM into a new season of mission and revival, until Jesus comes.
