World Seventh-day Adventist President Ted Wilson's Visit to the Trans Pacific Union Mission

From May 13 to May 18, 2024, the Trans Pacific Union Mission (TPUM) region in the South Pacific was honored to host the esteemed General Conference President of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Pastor Ted Wilson, and his wife, Nancy. They visited the nations of Tonga and Fiji, opening of the new Tonga Mission office building and officiating the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Church building at Fulton Adventist University College.

On May 15, Pastor Wilson participated in a the official dedication ceremony, celebrating the establishment of the new mission office, a testament to God's provision and the resilience of the local Adventist community after the devastating tsunami of 2022.

The ceremony included a formal worship service where Pastor Wilson addressed the attendees, inspiring them with his message of faith and dedication. A press conference followed, allowing Pastor Wilson to interact with the media and discuss the significance of the new mission office. The afternoon included presentations from various mission leaders, highlighting the progress and future plans of the Tonga Mission. The day concluded with a public program at Beulah College, featuring a harvesting program and baptisms to also conclude the Tonga4Christ evangelistic program.

On May 17, Pastor Ted and Nancy Wilson arrived at the beautiful Fulton campus, where they were warmly welcomed with traditional ceremonies, including the sound of the Conch shell and a parade of students representing various island countries. The presence of traditional friendly "warriors" escorting them added a unique cultural touch to the occasion.

The ceremony began with a special gathering, celebrating the diverse community at Fulton. Pastor Wilson, alongside other dignitaries, participated in the official groundbreaking for the new chapel, set in a stunning location on campus. The new chapel, designed to seat about 550 people, will serve as a central place of worship and community gathering for the students and staff.

The event was marked by beautiful special items and musical performances from the various cultural groups around the Pacific, adding to the spiritual and celebratory atmosphere. Following the groundbreaking, attendees enjoyed more fellowship and a delicious banquet, reflecting Fulton's strong sense of community and shared mission.
