A Sacred Calling: Pastor Waisale Dokonivalu Ordained to Gospel Ministry

Funafuti, Tuvalu — July 26, 2025

It was a Sabbath to remember in Funafuti as the Seventh-day Adventist Church family gathered to witness the sacred ordination of Pastor Waisale Dokonivalu, marking a significant milestone in his journey of faith and service.

Surrounded by his beloved family, close friends, fellow sports mates, and church members, Pastor Wyse was formally set apart for full pastoral ministry during a special Sabbath ordination service. The event was not only a formal recognition of his calling but also a celebration of a life dedicated to serving others and surrendering to God's divine plan.

Drawing inspiration from the biblical account of Elijah and Elisha in 2 Kings 2:10–13, the ordination message reminded all present that true ministry is not about titles or recognition, but about humble surrender to God’s will. As Elijah passed the prophetic mantle to Elisha, so too does ordination represent the passing of a sacred responsibility, an anointing to lead, shepherd, and proclaim the Word with courage and faith.

“This is more than a title—it’s a divine appointment, a solemn trust to lead God’s people, proclaim His Word, and shepherd His flock,” said Pr. Linray Tutuo during the ordination ceremony.

Following the ordination, a joyful celebration feast was hosted by Pastor Wyse’s family and Radini Ivana’s family, together with the Funafuti SDA Church family. The day was filled with warmth and heartfelt fellowship as families and friends came together to honour the newly ordained pastor.

Heartfelt speeches and congratulatory messages echoed throughout the gathering, acknowledging Pastor Wyse’s character, spiritual leadership, and unwavering commitment to God’s mission.

“We are reminded today that it is not our status that defines us, but our surrendered hearts that allow God to shape and use us for His purpose,” one church elder remarked.

As Pastor Wyse steps into this new chapter of ministry, the prayers of the church family remain with him and his loved ones. It is a prayer for strength, humility, and faithfulness as he leads God’s people with the same passion and devotion that brought him to this point.

The ordination of Pastor Waisale Dokonivalu stands as a powerful testament to the grace of God and the enduring call to serve with integrity, compassion, and unwavering faith.

To God be the glory.
